Yetunde Olabisi Taiwo, PhD (1956 - 2012)

,

The NAPPSA Member of the Month - a forum to recognize and thank a member of NAPPSA who has supported the Association's endeavors. Each month NAPPSA highlights one member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

NAPPSA is sad to posthumously feature Dr. Yetunde Taiwo who held the office of President Elect of NAPPSA until her passing on to glory on July 14, 2012.  Driven by her extraordinary degree of business and emotional intelligence as well as her genuine sense of humor, Yetunde passionately led and gingerly guided NAPPSA’s efforts that culminated in the highly successful Abuja Summit with key stakeholders in Nigeria on “Towards the Transformation of the Nigerian Pharmaceutical Sector”.

Professionally, Dr. Taiwo was Director of Global External Research & Development at Eli Lilly and Company where she led a multidisciplinary team responsible for identification and scientific evaluation of external innovation in the area of musculoskeletal diseases, technologies and biomarkers. Prior to assuming her position at Eli Lilly, Dr. Taiwo held various positions up to the Associate Director level at Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals.

The Late Dr. Taiwo was recipient of numerous professional awards and had served as a reviewer at NIH Grant Review Study Sections as well as for several scientific journals. She authored several peer reviewed scientific publications and book chapters and held over 50 patents globally.

We thank God for Yetunde’s invaluable leadership, exceptional sense of direction and passion for driving NAPPSA’s vision and mission. The entire NAPPSA Community will miss you greatly.

Adieu Yetunde! Adieu!
