Resource Editorial Standards

These standards help NAPPSA keep public resources useful, credible, current, and clearly labeled for pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, students, owners, researchers, and community partners.

Why this matters

NAPPSA.org now contains a large and growing collection of tools, intelligence pages, clinical resources, career guides, ownership resources, and educational materials. A clear review system protects credibility while preserving valuable content.

Useful

Resources should help a visitor act, learn, decide, prepare, connect, or find a better next step.

Credible

Clinical, regulatory, legal, scientific, and policy resources should favor authoritative sources and clear attribution.

Current

High-impact pages should show signs of review and should not allow stale event language or outdated links to remain indefinitely.

Status labels

Every major resource page should eventually carry one of these simple labels.

Status Meaning Recommended action
Current Reviewed and appropriate for public use. Keep visible. Re-review on the assigned cadence.
Needs Review Useful content exists, but links, facts, feeds, event language, or scope need checking. Assign an owner and update before further promotion.
Archive Historically useful content that should remain available but not appear as current guidance. Move to archive context, add date, and link forward to current resources.
Replace / Redirect Duplicate, draft/test, obsolete, or low-value page that confuses navigation. Preserve what matters, redirect to the best live page, then retire safely.

Review cadence

Different resource types age at different speeds. Clinical and regulatory content needs tighter review than evergreen membership or history pages.

Monthly

  • Pharmacy intelligence feeds
  • Regulatory and law pages
  • Medication safety and FDA updates
  • Conference/event pages during active planning

Quarterly

  • Clinical practice resource pages
  • Career Navigator resources
  • Ownership and management toolkits
  • Continuing education hubs

Annual

  • About NAPPSA pages
  • Committee overview pages
  • Research and publication landing pages
  • Membership benefit summaries

Resource owner roles

Each major resource should have a named functional owner, even if the web team handles publishing.

Resource area Suggested owner Support reviewers
Clinical and medication resources Clinical education or CE leadership Subject matter pharmacists, faculty, fellows, residents
Pharmacy law and regulatory resources Policy or professional affairs lead Licensed pharmacists, compliance reviewers, invited experts
Career and mentorship resources Career or membership committee lead Mentors, students, early-career pharmacists, diaspora bridge reviewers
Ownership and business resources Independent pharmacy owner or business-resource lead Owners, PICs, managers, finance and operations reviewers
Research, AJPPS, and publications Research/publications leadership AJPPS, poster committee, scientific reviewers
Publishing rule: updates should preserve useful content whenever possible. The default sequence is preserve, consolidate, redirect, then retire only after review.

Visitor feedback and corrections

NAPPSA members and visitors should have an easy way to flag outdated links, irrelevant feeds, stale event language, or resource gaps.

Maintenance workflow

Resource owners should use the status label and review cadence as a working queue, not just a public note. Each review should confirm whether the page is still accurate, useful, linked correctly, and aligned with current NAPPSA priorities.

Trigger Action Outcome
Scheduled monthly, quarterly, or annual review Owner checks links, facts, event language, dates, and calls to action. Keep Current, change to Needs Review, or mark Archive / Replace.
Major event passes or campaign closes Replace registration language with archive language and route visitors to the next active pathway. Preserve history without presenting stale activity as current.
Clinical, legal, regulatory, or CE content changes Functional owner verifies accuracy with a qualified reviewer before promotion. Update content or temporarily label Needs Review.
Visitor reports an issue Web/editorial lead routes the issue to the functional owner and logs the needed correction. Resolve quickly or mark the page for follow-up review.
