If you are training or trained at a Nigerian faculty of pharmacy, this is the route to PCN registration and practice in Nigeria.
Degree, induction and provisional registration
Complete an accredited pharmacy degree (B.Pharm or PharmD) at a faculty of pharmacy accredited by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). Confirm your school's current accreditation with PCN. Follow your faculty's induction and provisional-registration process before internship.
Complete the one-year internship
The internship is a compulsory one-year continuous training of fresh pharmacy graduates under a registered pharmacist (preceptor) at a PCN-approved internship training center. Follow PCN's training-record and evidence requirements before applying for full registration.
Pass the pre-registration examination
Sit and pass the PCN pre-registration examination for pharmacists, taken as part of qualifying for registration. Confirm the current format and schedule with PCN.
Apply for full registration and annual license
PCN's guidelines list the internship Certificate of Experience (Form D), registration application (Form C), retention application (Form J) and fees. Confirm current submission instructions and examination requirements with PCN.
Confirm NYSC and ongoing practice requirements
Check NYSC eligibility and PCN pre-registration separately; pre-registration is not final NYSC approval. Keep your annual practice license current and confirm requirements for your intended role or premises.
Nigerians whose undergraduate pharmacy degree was conferred by a recognized school of pharmacy outside Nigeria register through the PCN Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Orientation Programme (FPGOP), ask PCN which internship and full-registration requirements apply to their prior registration and experience.
